Freedom In The Journey

December 27, 2017 by Brittinni Condon 10 Comments

Our layers are as good and nourished as the various things pouring into them. Encouragement from a dear friend is just that:

Remember YOU and your happiness. Sometimes we get so caught up in worrying about what everyone else thinks or is doing and forget or neglect our own desires, needs, and goals.ย

Very true. There’s freedom in the journey. We only get one shot at this life – in work, in play, in love, in faith, in dreams, and in health. Our personal choices matter. Make them count. Everyone gets this opportunity to live these things out, but no one can live or choose what we must live and choose for ourselves. There’s no perfect timeline, solution, or playbook for many things. We may nod our heads knowing this to be true, but it often gets lived out differently. There’s guiding principles; a God who loves us, wants our burdens, and intercedes on our behalf; struggle and challenge; support systems and avenues; stumbling; incremental learning; discovery; adventure; risk-taking; vulnerability; and growth.ย

May we remember and apply these concepts with how we are with ourselves and with others. And see the beauty in them. What might our lives and interactions look like if we embraced these ideas and let go of perfection, unrealistic expectations, and what is working against freedom in the journey?

Thank you for sharing Brittinni! I spent time this morning praying on this topic. I ask God to free me from anything that is hindering me from His purpose. I asked God for freedom, to break every chain. Thank you for reminding me of His promises. Happy New Year!

God has me right where I am in my life. No not my timing but in his perfect timing. Through my trials of life He has me walk the journey that He has in place for me; and it continues. I ask myself what would I do without Him?

Thanks for sharing, Jackie! Absolutely, He knows all our steps and exactly what we need which will look different from person to person. Great question – Thankfully I’ve experienced and know the difference and can’t imagine my life without Him. ๐Ÿ™‚

There is no freedom like being free from unrealistic expectations from ourselves and others. God doesn’t put more on us than we can bare.

Short but powerful. I had to let go of being perfect years ago. It’s still a journey but I must say it has been freeing. Thank you for this sweet reminder.

So true! Each and every choice will leave a ‘layer’ or foundation for us. I hope to make the best choices I can for 2018, not out of perfection but out of love for myself and others!
